4 great resources for choir directors

As I look around at church and community choirs, it seems like the art of gospel choir directing has gotten lost. I know first hand that the job of a choir director is not and easy one.

I have learned that in order to be a great choir director a person needs to be skilled at managing both people and music. Here is a list of resources that will help choir directors everywhere, no matter what their skill level.

1. American Choral Directors Association
This is a non-profit music education organization. Its purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. The organization hosts a few conferences each year and there are chapters across the country.

2. Joan’s Choir Pages
Joan Hall is a gospel choir enthusiast. She has created a page that is full of helpful resources for gospel choirs and gospel choir directors.

3. Choral Net
This is a professional networking site for the choral community. This site contains forums, resources and the latest news from the choral world.

4. How to Direct a Gospel Choir
eHow.com gives a good tutorial about what it takes to be a good choir director.

Do you know of any resources that you would like to add to the list?
