BET announces lineup for Celebration of Gospel 2011

BET has announced its lineup for Celebration of Gospel 2011. Steve Harvey will be hosting once again and there will be tributes to Walter Hawkins and Albertina Walker.

Artists scheduled to perform will include Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell and James Fortune & FIYA. Chaka Kahn will be one of many R&B legends that are scheduled to perform for the show.

I don’t have anything against R&B singers, but I can definitely do without them as it relates to this show. Everyone is entitled to sing praises to God. However that are numerous opportunities for us to see and hear R&B artists on TV. Those same opportunities aren’t always available for Gospel artists.

Celebration of Gospel 2011 will be taped on Saturday, December 11th at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. The show will air on BET on January 30th.

I suggest that you read The Gospel According to Torrence on BET.com. There you will find a complete list of all of the artist. In addition, BET is giving people the opportunity to sing in the pre-show. Check the website for more details.

After seeing the lineup, I am definitely excited about Celebration of Gospel 2011. What do you think?

Sorry but Cliff, did you forget the charge God gave us? To preach the good news (that is Jesus Christ) and win over the lost. I think we as a whole have done a poor job in such we, the body of Christ, have the audacity to want to segregate ourselves from the world, the very people we are to win over to Christ. …I have nothing against …but …I can do without? I wish the whole world would sing praises unto Him for He is worthy. Don't care the genre. Let God always be the ultimate judge of all. Just saying.

was dissapointed in the BET Gospel Celebration, first of all they cut the artist off too quickly, why were there secular artist on the show, we are suppose to be separated and not of this world and while we are inclusive it just sends the wrong message, the attire left a lot to be desired, ladies dress too tight or too short, just a overall mess. and the men 's attire wasn't any better, Kirk F, you are too old LET IT go, and the skinny jeans on MEN, OMG please STOP. Chaka Khan I love her but thru the fire is not a gospel song, whitney houston and Kim burrell were singing to each other and disregarded the audience, I remember Kim's advice to one of the BET sunday's best, sing to the audience, I watied in anticipation for this show but when the show went off I felt empty. we can do so much better , Ask this question: Do you think God was pleased. Did he get all the honor?
