The Associated Press is reporting that a 6-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground.
The “King of Kings” statue is located along side a highway at Solid Rock Church in Ohio. It depicts Jesus, from the torso up, with his hands raised in the air. It is affectionately know as “Touchdown Jesus.”
Unfortunately, the statue wasn’t the only casualty here. The fire also spread to the nearby amphitheater. No one was hurt or injured in the accident.
I’m sure the news of this will spark tons of jokes. While I love a good joke, I don’t think this had anything to do with God being angry at Jesus. Honestly, I can’t explain why this happened.
I am very thankful that no one was injured. Please keep Solid Rock Church in your prayers as they rebuild their facilities.
Here is a video the describes the incident.
