LifeChurch tries to unite churches with “One Prayer” Campaign

The Christian Post is reporting that is launching a campaign that attempts to unite churches and empower pastors to experiment with video teaching. The intent is to make a local and global impact through outreach. Hundreds of churches will unite together in June for a four week sermon series entitled  "One Prayer".

I don’t even need to talk to my Pastor about this one. I know my church definitely will not participate in this initiative. Why? We don’t have video capabilities at my church. We’re a little behind on the times. We’re moving towards catching up to the tech age. We’re moving slowly, but we’re moving none the less.

That being said, I think this is a great idea. Any time God’s people can be united, it is a good thing.  Many pastors do not like yielding their pulpit on Sunday mornings for anyone.  I applaud the hundreds of pastors who will step aside for the four weeks during this campaign.

I’m sure for some people, this will be a shock to their system. I know many people who would not be in favor of sitting in church and watching a sermon via video.

Keep in mind, these are the same people who go to the movies 2-3 times a month. Is it a little hypocritical? I don’t know. I think many people come to church expecting an emotional experience. A video sermon may take away from that.

Me, I’m all for something new and different. There is a large part of me that is getting tired of the tradition found in many of today’s churches. That’s a story for another post.

One hundred plus churches, united for one common purpose. That is an awesome thing!
