Ministry Profile: Free Breakfast Church

latina.com

I love it when churches do different and interesting things. Check out this ministry from Courageous Church in Atlanta. They call it Free Breakfast Church.

Free Breakfast Church is an outreach initiative. Instead of passing out flyers and doing radio ads, they serve free breakfast every Sunday with no strings attached.

According to the FreeBreakfastChurch.com website, their three main reasons for serving breakfast are:

“1. Jesus regularly took time to eat with friends and strangers alike. We want to be like Jesus and build relationships over good meals.

2. Times are tough. Not only are people hurting financially, they are also more isolated than ever. This FREE breakfast is a way to show our love for people.

3. It’s practical. Having a FREE breakfast at church on Sunday morning is very convenient for our volunteers, families, and visitors.”

I know what you may be thinking. Many churches serve free food on Sunday morning. Yes, that is true, but how many of them serve a full breakfast and not just danishes and bagels? Not many.

Also, I give them a lot a credit for registering the FreeBreakfastChurch.com domain name. That alone is pretty interesting.

The bottom line is that I love what they are doing. I pray that many people are blessed through this initiative.

How about I never heard of this church here in Atlanta? But it's an awesome concept!

What burns me up is how the legal system has many organizations spooked about giving away leftover food. So many people are hungry, why not give the food to those who need it most? I'm very proud of this church, for taking this step in a world where it is becoming increasingly rare.

And kudos to the Gospel Blog for spotlighting this church!
