Review: “More Than Noise” by Pocket Full of Rocks

By Cliff, March 2, 2010

pocketfullofrocksWhat does worship mean to you? With their latest album, Pocket Full of Rocks aims to show us that worship is More Than Noise.

When you begin to listen to this album, you will be plugged in to a powerful worship experience. I found the style of music to be a nice blend of rock and praise and worship. Other people may see it differently.

BrentonBrownIf you are looking to add more praise and worship albums to your collection, then I have another candidate for you. After listening to Adoration by Brenton Brown, I discovered a solid project with some very good songs.

I absolutely love, love, love the song Amazing God. This worship song is great at exalting the name of the Lord. After listening to it, I’m sure you will find it highly effective for both person and corporate worship. In my opinion, some other standout songs on this album are Adoration and Holy.

Review: Carlos Whittaker Digital EP

By Cliff, January 27, 2010

CarlosWhittakerEPIt is always interesting when a world renowned blogger steps away from the computer for a second to branch off into another area. Many people know Carlos Whittaker as a blogger at www.RagamuffinSoul.com. Others know him as an accomplished worship leader. After being signed to Integrity Music, Whittaker recently released a 3 song digital EP. After listening to all 3 songs, here are my thoughts.

If you ever look at Carlos, you would not expect him to sound the way he does. Don’t get me wrong, I like his voice, I just didn’t expect it to sound like that.

Review: “Encore” by James Fortune & FIYA

By Cliff, January 26, 2010

JamesFortuneI just got finished listening to Encore by James Fortune & FIYA. After listening to the entire CD, my initial impression is WOW!

I love it when artists produce music that originates from God and flows through their heart. When you listen to Encore, you get that kind of music.

When a Gospel artist does more talking than singing, people have a tendency to label that person as a Kirk Franklin clone or wannabe. In case you haven’t realized it by now, James Fortune is not that type of guy. When he ministers on this album you can sense his authenticity and passion. It is clear to me that he is not faking or trying to be like anyone else. (If I am wrong, then he has done a good job of fooling me.)
