Review: “Here I Am” by Marvin Sapp

By Cliff, March 16, 2010

marvinsappI recently checked out Marvin Sapp’s new album entitled Here I Am. You won’t hear earth shattering instrumental performances. You also won’t hear music production that will change the face of Gospel music. When you listen to this album, you will hear music that will encourage, inspire and uplift you.

We all go through different struggles in our life. This album can serve as the sound track for a given season. When you need encouragement to hold on and make it through, you’ll want to listen to Here I Am.

Review: “Pieces of A Real Heart” by Sanctus Real

By Cliff, March 10, 2010

sanctusrealIf you have been checking out any of the major Christian music charts, you will notice that Sanctus Real has been making a climb towards the top. The reason for this because their latest album, Pieces of A Real Heart, is really really good.

On the surface, the music is high quality. When you hear the guitar, drums and vocals, you won’t be disappointed.

I encourage you to go beyond the music and allow yourself to really hear the lyrics. They really speak to the life of someone who has spent considerable time walking with God. Certain themes like forgiveness, redemption, and allowing God to be in control of your life can be found in many of our lives. This album addresses them in such a personal and real way.

Review: “Worship and A Word” by Smokie Norful

I love it when an artist does new and different things. With Worship and A Word, Smokie Norful shows us his other side. Many of you know Smokie Norful the singer. Worship and A Word is three separate albums that allow you to see Pastor Smokie Norful the preacher.

Many pastors record their sermons and make them available for purchase through their church. I don’t know of many pastors that make their sermons available through other distribution channels like Amazon.com. In addition to a powerful word from God, each album also includes a signature Smokie Nofrul song at the end.

pocketfullofrocksWhat does worship mean to you? With their latest album, Pocket Full of Rocks aims to show us that worship is More Than Noise.

When you begin to listen to this album, you will be plugged in to a powerful worship experience. I found the style of music to be a nice blend of rock and praise and worship. Other people may see it differently.

Review: “Adoration” by Brenton Brown

BrentonBrownIf you are looking to add more praise and worship albums to your collection, then I have another candidate for you. After listening to Adoration by Brenton Brown, I discovered a solid project with some very good songs.

I absolutely love, love, love the song Amazing God. This worship song is great at exalting the name of the Lord. After listening to it, I’m sure you will find it highly effective for both person and corporate worship. In my opinion, some other standout songs on this album are Adoration and Holy.
