One of the Anointed Pace sisters talks about her weight loss and lesbianism

DeJuaii Pace, of the Gospel group The Anointed Pace Sisters, will be featured in a documentary called Addicted to Food that will air on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network this Tuesday (4/5). She recently did an interview with The Root where she talks about her battle with weight loss and lesbianism.

In the interview, she shares how her compulsive overeating is linked to her attraction to women. It seems that this is something that she has been struggling with for over 15 years. She did not tell her family that she was a lesbian until 2009. So, as I'm sure you quickly figured out, DeJuaii was attracted to women while she was recording albums and ministering around the country with her sisters.

DeJauii is a virgin. She has never has sex with a man or a woman. So, although she has had these feelings, she has never physically acted on them.

I'm sure you're thinking that she needs to get rid of these feelings. Well, it seems that she has fasted, prayed and spoken with her pastor about her struggles. Her thoughts and feelings still persist.

As believers, I strongly believe that we need to be cautions of anything that hinders our relationship with God. Things like pornography addictions, excessive TV watching, and gluttony can cause us to focus on other things when our chief focus should be Jesus Christ.

There was one thing in the interview that caused me the greatest concern. DeJuaii mentioned that 98% of her friends live a lesbian lifestyle. It appears that these are the people that she feels most comfortable with.

I find it hard to overcome any problem if you hang around a lot of people that are struggling with the same issue. For instance, if you are having trouble in your marriage, the last thing you want to do is hang around a number of other couples that are having marriage problems too. You should seek to spend time with other people that have healthy marriages. That way they can encourage you and role model a healthy lifestyle.

I pray that DeJuaii surrounds herself with women that are living a lifestyle that is pleasing to God. I have found Proverbs 27:17 to be very true. You can't use aluminum to sharpen iron, it just won't work. If you want a godly lifestyle, then you need to be around other people that are striving to live godly as well.

Dejuaii said that she has made peace with God about her feelings. I am praying for her. I pray that God will ultimately be glorified through her life.
