some of my friends who work in haiti were also victimized by that terrible earthquake. i was very thankful that they only suffered minor scratches.

i have several relatives who were also vicitimized by the earthquake in Haiti. thank God that they were not seriously hurt. i hope and pray that Haiti would be able to recover soon from this disaster.

what a to do about nothing. everyone is entitled to their opinion, or are they? I think that everyone who eats meat partakes in murder and the absolute daily horror and despair of animals every day all day and night. so to me most people are hypocrites. just get on with your own lives. the problem with this day and age is that every tom, dick and sally think they are experts in the puny futility of their minds.

I noticed that the Catholic National Cathedral in Port-au-Prince was destroyed and the Archbishop and Vicar General both died. I wonder why God allowed that? Is He just a bad aim? Or does He hold wrath for Catholics? Or is something else going on here? Why are we not supposed to ask these questions?

It’s almost as if He works in RANDOM ways.

I pray for those people who have been injured in Haiti. the earthquake in Haiti is one of the word disasters this year. I just hope that they would be able to recover soon.

Steve, thanks for the comment. Whether you believe in God or not, it is pretty safe to say this disaster was not caused by any type of human actions.

Absolutely no evidence for any god so “retribution” is impossible. I think it most likely that this disaster was caused by: human greed resulting in badly made buildings; lack of expenditure on infrastructure and public services by corrupt government; forcing the poor to live where nobody else wants to be; and plate tectonics.

I believe that there are things that God does that are completely beyond our understanding. I think that in times like these we are better served by keeping our mouths shut rather than try to explain or justify the actions of God.

I don’t believe that God is a murderer and I don’t think that he goes out to punish the weak. In times like this, the best we can do it to just go to God and ask him how he would like us to respond regarding what has happened.
