Recap: BET’s Sunday Best, season 3, episode 10

Sunday-BestWe are down to the final three contestants on BET’s Sunday Best. I think each of the final three contestants is extremely talented and anointed.

The theme for the first portion of this episode was “Cross Over”. The contestants were charged with singing secular songs that have a Gospel message.

Israel Houghton opened the show singing Moving Forward. He went beyond a simple performance and gave everyone watching a worship experience.

During the middle of the show Brian Courtney Wilson sang All I Need. Many people on Twitter were very impressed with his voice. I enjoyed his performance.

For this episode, each contestant sang two songs. Here are my observations.

Durward Davis
First Performance
He sung Change The World by Eric Clapton. I thing Durward is a great singer. I just wish he would’ve chosen a different song.

When you’re down to just three people, you have to really bring it! I think a different song would have showed off his talent more.

The judges seemed to like his performance.

Second Performance
He came back in his wheelhouse with his performance of I Need You Now. It was great! Tina Campbell referred to him as “true skilled professional.” I agree with her. His performance was flawless.

LeAndria Johnson
First Performance
Heaven Help Us All by Stevie Wonder. My wife said she sounded a lot like Lala Hathaway.

Her performance was good. She delivered the quality singing that we have all come to expect from her.

Second Performance
Her performance of I Love The Lord was absolutely amazing! In fact, it was so amazing and anointed that a praise broke out in the entire auditorium. Even the judges were dancing in the spirit.

Elder Goldwire McLendon
First Performance
I could be wrong, but I thought Falling in Love With Jesus was a Gospel song. Somehow, Elder McLendon was allowed to sing that instead of a secular song.

As usual, he did a fantastic job. When the song was over, Kirk Franklin asked Donnie McClurkin to comment and Donnie was speechless.

Second Performance
I don’t think his performance of Oh Happy Day was his best performance of the competition. However, I still thought it was good.

In the end, LeAndria Johson and Elder Goldwire McLendon advanced to the next round.

I thought Durward Davis did an outstanding job on the show. I think he would have won the competition any other year. This year he ran up against two really special people in LeAndrian and Elder McLendon.

I’m expecting to see something extremely special in the final show next week. In my opinion LeAndria Johnson will be the winner.

Did you see episode 10? What do you think? Who do you think should have been the final two contestants? Post a comment and let me know your thoughts.

I have ben watching Sunday's Best from the beginning and I really think they all were fantastic however, I have no doubt that Ms. LeAndria will be the winner of this episode. I really enjoy and was blessed by Elder Goldwire he has really blessed my soul and I thank God for his anointing spirit.

I THINK AL THE CONTESTANTS WERE GOOD BUT THE LORD REALLY USED LeANDRIA SHE WAS JUST AWESIME

I was so blessed by LeAndria, Elder McLendon was good also and Duward was good. They were all a blessing to the saints. I do hope that LeAndria is the winner as she has really been a blessing to those of us who have been watching and have been through some storms of our own. I know God's will be done and what He has for them is for them

I loved this episode!! I especially loved LeAndria. I was so glad that Yolanda told Kirk to let her go. That little girl ripped da flo– if you know what I mean! Not only were they shouting in the auditorium but we were shouting in my house too! Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus!! I really hope she wins.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the difference in this year as in the other years? I don't know if it's the judges, the contestants or the vocal coach. I know it's a competition, but the level of spirituality & anointing on the show has just superceded previous years. These people have not only been singing, but they have been worshipping as they sing, which in my book just can't be judged & speaks volumes as an artist! You must be a worshipper 1st! This is by far my favorite season of Sunday Best!

I have enjoyed this year more than previous years too. I'm not completely sure why. For some reason, I think Donnie McClurkin has a better appeal than BeBe Winans. Donnie definitely shows more spiritual emotion than BeBe did in the past.

I enjoy Sunday's Best very much, all three contestants; Leandrea,Elder Goldwire McLendon and Durward Davis are awsome. All are being used by GOD. I don't agree that Elder should be in the final two, but now it's up to the viewer's so let GOD's will be done. My vote will be case for Leandrea.

I thought the there were about 10 fantastic singers and I'm sure most of them will become professinal because they were that good. Deward is already a Pro and his album should be out by the end of the year. Of the two, left it should be Leandria, though she would not have been my choice to be in it this far. I love Elder, his voice is wonderful, but I don't think he deserved it over the last 5 that went before him.

I have watched all 3 episodes of Sunday Best and I have never missed a show. But I will have to say that this year has been the best by far. There is such an anointing when the contestants begin to sing. The judges offer great criticism to all. But Ms.Leandria is something else. That girl has “Sunday Best” all over her. This is surely her season to walk into the greatness of God.

I have really enjoyed season 3 of sunday best. All the singers have done a great job for God. Leandria has been my favorite above all. She has let god use her. The annointing has been so strong, my whole family shouted when Leandria got her praise on. I think they should keep Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, & Tina. Everybody knows Donnie when he talks about God. I'm Loving the show. Sunday Best is Leandria. Be Blessed.

Elder Goldwire is a winner no matter what the judges decide.

Terri, I would have to agree with you on that one. No matter what the decision is, both contestants will benefit greatly from it.

  • Mrzproby

C Sims, I must agree with you. Every time I watch Sundays Best week after week these final contestants are so anointed and gifted with their voice that it pulls me out of my living room into the audience. GOD has truly showed up and showed out this season and I am thankful to be a witness to such greatness!

  • RLewis

I agree. I think he really changed alot of lives. Some people like to listen to gospel music just like they listen to R&B but, you can't just listen to Elder McClendon. Elder McClendon's put you in the presense of GOD to worship. GOD is well pleased…

    Hi you'all,

I've just watched the semi-final to Sunday Best this season's show is off the hook. I have been watching it here in the UK, so I guess I am a week behind. The annointing, the talent and the level of authenticity is just dripping from the two finalist. I cried as I listened and watche LeAndria, and as for Elder McLenon; he is just an absolute awesome testimony of the goodness of God. Can't they both be winners? I don't know how you are all going to choose between them, I don't envy your decisions.

    Stay Blessed,

    D.Nelson
