Religous leaders form coalition to protest Jesus Christ cartoon

southparkJesusThere are a lot of people that are upset about notion of a Jesus Christ cartoon that will likely air on Comedy Central.

According to ABC News, a number of religious leaders are coming together to form the Coalition Against Religious Bigotry. These leaders include Brent Bozell (president, Media Research Center), Tony Perkins (president, Family Research Council ), Michael Medved (talk radio host), Bill Donohue (president, Catholic League), Rabbi Daniel Lapin (American Alliance of Jews and Christians) and Tim Winter (president, Parents Television Council).

Comedy Central recently censored the show “South Park” for its portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad. It is hard for some people to understand why they would censor offensive images of Muhammad, but not Jesus Christ.

What I find really interesting is that this “JC” cartoon hasn’t even been created yet. They haven’t even begun production on the show. Right now this show is basically a concept.

I don’t know much about the gentlemen that are part of this coalition. However, I do know that often times advertisers are afraid of coalitions. This show will never happen if advertisers don’t sponsor it.

Are these religious leaders overreacting? Do you find a cartoon about Jesus Christ offensive? Would you still buy products or services from a company that sponsors a Jesus Christ cartoon?

Post a comment and let me know what you think.
