Review: Freddy Rodriguez “Light in the Darkness”

I know this CD has been out for a couple of months, but people aren’t buying it or talking about it, so I’m assuming that not a lot of people know about it.

I listened to Freddy Rodriguez’s CD Light in the Darkness and it is simply amazing! For those of you who may not know him, Freddy Rodriguez is a worship leader and song writer on the Integrity record label. This is the same label that is home to Israel Houghton.

Light in the Darkness is a praise and worship experience. It was recorded live at the Champions Center in Las Vegas. I must admit, I am very partial to live recordings. This CD just oozes with a special brand of energy.

Freddy’s style can best be described as cross-cultural worship. The music doesn’t feel like he’s trying to play to a specific group of people on purpose. Every song feels very authentic and clearly exalts the Lord.

“Rejoice” and “No Other Name” are two lively worship songs with familiar themes. However, these songs take these themes and brings such a vibrant life to them.

Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, but “I Will Run” should be the new “it” song and nobody’s talking about it. I can’t fully explain it, but that song speaks to that special part of your spirit that desires to be closer to God. In spite of all the distractions we have in life, “I Will Run” pierces though all of that and helps re-establish your focus on God.

If you like Israel Houghton, Martha Munizzi, Hillsong, or Chris Tomlin, you will love Freddy Rodriguez. He wrote or co-wrote about 90% of the songs on the album. Trust me he is a truly gifted and anointed artist.

If you don’t believe me, listen for yourself.

Now that you’ve heard his music, go out and get a copy for yourself:
