Sean Taylor, taken before his time?

Can you imagine having what most people call the good life, then having it all come to end. Lately I’ve been thinking about the senseless kill of former Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor. It makes me very sad. It left me with a ton of questions. Why would one human being gun down another so mercilessly? Did Sean Taylor bring all of this upon himself? Was this something that he deserved?

People all over TV and radio are saying that Sean Taylor led a questionable lifestyle. They are saying that he hung around some bad people and made some very poor decisions in his life. By all accounts, many people are saying that he was beginning to turn his life around. Was it too little too late?

Whether we admit it or not we all have made decisions we all make in life every day, it makes me eternally grateful. I continually remind myself that we are all alive by the woe some bad or questionable decisions in our lives. Granted, some people’s decisions are worse than others. When I think about the wonderful grace of God. We could easily be where Sean Taylor is today, dead. Unfortunately, his ending came via bullet from a still unknown gunman. But for many of us, our ending could have come from a car accident or a disease, but God had mercy on us.

I am constantly reminded of Ephesians 2:3-5 (NIV) "Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved." Where would we be without the grace and mercy of God? Am I saying that God did not display grace and mercy towards Sean Taylor? No, the reasons behind Sean Taylor’s death are between he and God. I’m just thankful for the grace and mercy that God has shown towards me.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Sean Taylor. I pray that God gives them comfort in their time of sorrow.
