Don’t Neglect Your Local Church For Haiti

By Cliff, February 12, 2010

After the earthquake in Haiti we saw many benefit concerts and songs sprout up all over the place. People also started texting donations to multiple organizations. If your life is anything like mine, I’m sure many local organizations also held collections to benefit Haiti.

These are all good and helpful things. I am confident that all of our contributions are needed and valued. However, we should not neglect our main priorities to support the people of Haiti or anyone else in need. I know this may sound harsh on the surface, but I believe that this is God’s will for our lives.

Why God Allows Disasters to Happen

By Cliff, January 21, 2010

It is no secret that the earthquake in Haiti and the floods in Los Angeles have left many people questioning God. Many people simply want to know why God allows disasters to happen. Is God angry? Is he trying to punish humanity?

I know that God is the creator and ruler of the universe. Absolutely nothing happens without him knowing about it. As for the topic of natural disasters, I don’t know why he causes or allows them to happen. He could have easily created a volcano, earthquake, hurricane and flood free world, but he didn’t.

Why Christians Shouldn’t Fear Anything

By Cliff, August 20, 2009

I was recently listening to a podcast from Creflo Dollar and he was talking about fear as it relates to the life of a Christian. Basically, he was talking about how it is not God’s intent for us to have ANY fear in our lives. As soon as I heard this, the following scripture immediately popped into my head:

“For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (ASV)

We Can’t Blame Death on God’s Selfishness

By Cliff, July 8, 2009

I’m sure you’ve been to a funeral or memorial service where you heard someone refer to the deceased and say something to the effect of “God must have wanted a ______ so he decided to call _______ home”. When you fill in the blanks it goes something like this: “God must have wanted a plumber in heaven, so he decided to call Uncle Jerry home.”

I really wish people would stop using phrases like this. It portrays God to be this selfish figure that causes death only for his personal gain. That is just not a true representation of who God is and what he is all about.

The Bridge

By Cliff, June 4, 2009

Sometimes we forget about the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on Calvary. We forget that some of us were drug users, murders and sex addicts, but God still gave his son to die so WE can live. That concept is amazing!

This video is a great illustration of that point.
