You've probably heard Tim Bowman Jr. on Vickie Winans' "Shake Yourself Loose Remix" or "How I Got Over". He's been traveling the world and singing with her for a few years.

Now, he has his own album out entitled "Beautiful". Listen to the song "Free" from the Beautiful album. It is a powerful anthem that declares the freedom that we all have because the of the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ. This is one song that your worship team may be adding to its repertoire.

Vicky Winans launches comedy DVD and 40-city tour

Vickie Winans continues to prove that she is one of the most creative and talented people in the Gospel music industry. She is about to hit the road to promote two newly recorded comedy DVDs entitled "Hilarious and Unplugged" Volumes 1 and 2. The stand-up comedy project will be available in stores, on her website, and every stop along the tour.

The tour will be begin on Easter Sunday at the House of Hope/Salem Baptist Church Worship Center in Chicago. Other stops on the tour will be held at churches, theaters and other venues.

Winans recorded both DVDs on December 7, 2011 at Detroit's Upper Room complex. She was on stage for nearly four hours. During that time, she told hilarious stories from her life experiences to growing up with 11 brothers and sisters. The attendees at the live recording were also treated to some music. Winans performed live versions of "Shake Yourself Loose" and "How I Got Over" with her nephew, Tim Bowman Jr. She also shot a live music video of her son Mario Winans' "Overcomer" remix. These songs are included on the DVDs.

There will be a very special element to this tour. Winans has purchased a Sprinter van to transport the homeless in each city to be her special guests at each comedy show. She will be playing the role of Grace Avery in the upcoming film entitled "Amazing Grace. Performing in this role moved her so much that it caused her to form a foundation to help decrease homelessness in America.

Her socially conscious mindset is extremely commendable. I don't know about you, but I'm more likely to purchase something when I know that it is connected to a good cause.

Why you won’t want to miss McDonald’s Gospelfest 2011

The best in Gospel music will be on display at McDonald’s Gospelfest 2011: Might Men of Valor. The evening will begin with a competition that will feature some of the best unsigned talent in the country.

Once the competition portion is over, you’ll get to see some of your favorite Gospel artists take the stage. You will get to see performances by Kirk Franklin, James Fortune, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Donnie McClurkin, Vickie Winans, Cissy Houston and Bobby Jones. Bishop T.D. Jakes will also be making an appearance.

Vickie Winans to appear on The Monique Show

Vickie Winans is scheduled to appear on BET’s “The Mo’Nique Show” on February 18, 2010. The Gospel great is slated to perform “Dance Till the Walls Fall Down” from her latest Grammy Award-nominated CD “How I Got Over”, talk about her forthcoming aerobics video and discuss the ups and downs of her spectacular career.

It is interesting how we have recently seen a run of Gospel music artists on The Mo’Nique Show. Being around Gospel artists clearly had an impact on Steve Harvey’s life. I wonder if frequent exposure to Gospel artist will have some slight impact on Mo’Nique’s life too.

Where to Watch the 2010 Stellar Awards

In case you didn’t know the 2010 Stellar Awards took place on Saturday, January 16. Did you make it to Nashville to see the show live? If you didn’t, don’t worry, you are not alone. I wasn’t able to make it there either.

By all accounts the 25th Annual Stellar Awards was a great show. It appears the Hezekiah Walker and Vickie Winans were the big winners of the night.

Although I couldn’t make it, I was fortunate enough to get frequent updates from many of the people that I follow on Twitter. I am grateful to these men and women for keeping me and thousands of other people updated.

I started reading updates on Twitter on Friday (1/15) morning. By Friday afternoon, I was having serious regrets and the actual show was on Saturday. The reports I was getting from the BMI luncheon were enough to make me want to be there. It seemed like everyone was having a really good time. As I looked at the updates roll in my computer screen and my cell phone I was this close to checking on plane tickets and hotel accommodations in Nashville.

I completely understand that it was not God’s intent for me to attend this year. However, I am praying that he will allow me to join in on the fun next year if it is his will.

The Gospel Music Channel will be airing the Stellar Awards on February 28 at 8 PM EST.
