The Minister’s Guide To Sin, Sex and Relationships: Lesson 10 – Count The Costs

You may not have paid much attention to the previous posts in this series. There is a good chance that you thought some of my suggestions were unrealistic. I urge you to put some serious thought into my final suggestion.

Before you say or do something that you may regret later, I urge you to count the costs. Having unmarried sex or having outside of your marriage may give you temporary pleasure, but it can cause long-term damage.

Ask yourself if it is really worth it. Is it worth causing your spouse great pain? Is it worth hurting the salvation of another person? Is it worth risking the future of your ministry? Is it worth hurting your relationship with God?

Look beyond the present before your act. Look to the long-term consequences that you and your entire family could be facing. Your actions not only affect you and your family, but also the family of another person.

No matter what is going on between you and your spouse, having a sexual relationship outside of marriage is never the answer. Please, please, please…before you act, count all the costs. I guarantee you the negative effect will far outweigh the positive.

What do you think? Please feel free to share your thoughts.
