As Gospel music evolves we all notice people doing and saying different things. While I love the direction that Gospel is going in right now, I also have appreciation for the people who have come before us. Many of us think that we have left the old ways of doing things. However, there might still be a little bit of old school inside some of us.
You might be old school Gospel if…
- You say “listen” at least 10 times during a song.
- You hold a handkerchief while you sing.
- You’re in a group and you all have matching 3-piece suits. (Men)
- The total of your sequence and rhinestones dresses is greater than 10.
- You think that praise dancing and mime are just fads that won’t last in the church.
- You start off songs by saying “I’m reminded of the time…”
- Your church choir does an elaborate march for the choir anniversary.
What do you think? Do you have anything else to add to the list?
