Your thoughts on “Do The Church Dance” video

This video called Do The Church Dance has been circulating online for almost a year now. From what I can tell it has been receiving mixed reactions. Some people call it buffoonery while other people seem to like it.

I think it was created to be something fun. There a lot of unappealing songs that people dance to. I think that this is supposed to be a fun alternative.

Take a look at the video and let me know what you think.

I like it. I can see some arguing that worldly things need to stay in the world. But, I recognize that we are losing young people left and right. I'm glad to see people addressing/combating what is happening in pop culture. It is a trend in music. Just as hip hop brought about gospel hip hop, songs like the stanky leg have made a way for the church dance. Folks are being delivered in unconventional ways. I serve an unconventional God. Who loves in unconventional ways.

The end of man to glorify God. The criteria must not be how much like the world we can or should become but how much like God we can become while in the world. While I also advocate changing methods to reach the lost, we must do that in the context of who He is and being His representatives in the world. We can be effective for the Kingdom in the world but not being of the world. If we are losing young people, being of the world will not gain them to the Kingdom. They are lost because they cannot see the “Light” being blinded by the enemy of the Kingdom. Becoming darkness will not help them see the “Light”. More “Light” is needed to dispel the darkness, not more darkness. As we abide in Him and His Word abides in us, we will become more like Him, reflect His Light and penetrate the great darkness blinding those who are lost, and be instruments that draw to the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah!
